A Distant Dream

A Distant Dream ONLY hopes and aspirations reign the life of the people of Bangladesh after a mass upheaval was followed by a 'neutral' (not from class point of view) caretaker government declared its prime task to be the holding of free and fair elections. Political leaders, intelligentsia, all sorts of opinion- makers and the media representing the ruling class are feeding the hopes that a stable and democratic system is going to be 'restored' in the country. The intelligentsia, equipped with Utopian ideas and middle class day dreams, and the political leaders of the ruling class are propagating that a 'neutral' poll will 'restore' democracy and this is the first step in institutionalising democracy in Bangladesh. But soon people will find that they have been betrayed.
