the All Jharkhand Students Union, the Jharkhand Party (N E Horo), the United Jharkhand Party and the Kolhan Raksha Sangh, both the Congress and the BJP and now the SKD have some presence among the tribals. It follows from this that the Jharkhand movement has not been able to subsume other identities. Thus in Singhbhum the Mankis and Mundas who constitute a majority in the area are not favourably disposed to the JMM while certain segments seem to have been appropriated by individuals as for instance the Ho community whose support has been tapped by Bagun Sambrui. The Muslims and the Roman Catholics lean to the Congress. This more than anything else is perhaps responsible for the stagnation of the movement.
