IN 1985, National Campaign Committee for Legislation on Construction Labour (NCCLCL) wishes to highlight the explosive situation that exists in the Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Plant construction site of the MSEB. Over 1,000 construction workers of MSEB's contractor companies WIE, WIEE and Delkon have been on strike since October 31, 1989 opposing arbitrary service termination of active workers. Instead of acting to promote constitutional values and giving justice to contract workers, the MSEB and the state government have escalated the conflict by increasing SRP presence on the site. It is apprehended that once again police repression may be let lose.
