Nestle India Dearer Inputs

NESTLE INDIA formerly Food Specialities, increased its net sales by 22 per cent to Rs 236.51 crore during the year ended December 1989 from Rs 194.53 crore during the preceding calendar year. Of this, gross value of exports amounted to Rs 12.15 crore during 1989 as against Rs 9.28 crore during the preceding year. Due to the pressure of costs, the expenses/sales ratio going up from 0.89:1 in 1988 to 0.90:1 in 1989, the growth rates in operating profits and net profits worked out lower. The operating profits in-creased by 5 per cent from Rs 23.97 crorc in 1988 to Rs 25.24 crore in 1989 and net profits by 4 per cent from Rs 14.04 crore to Rs 14.63 crore.
