However, since banks did not have resources to make banking more staff intensive, pilot projects were needed to be designed in decentralised manner by each bank to try various approaches. As the scheme of credit linked crop insurance had not worked satisfactorily, it was felt that it may be useful to make contributions of premium through asset/loan insurance compulsory in all states regardless of purpose or category.
