Peoples' Struggle for Information THE Mansi-Wakal project located in Jhadol tehsil of Udaipur district designed to meet drinking water requirements of Udaipur city estimated to cost Rs 115 crore was inaugurated by the Rajasthan government on June 1989. Since then a controversy has arisen around the project. On the one hand, villagers situated near the dam-site have expressed fears about their displacement if the dam comes up and on the other, project authorities have made no attempt to inform the people about the dam, submergence area, compensation, rehabilitation and other vital information related to the project.
