the Drug Price Control Order (DPCO) of 1987 prove beyond doubt that effectively there is nothing like a policy for pharmaceuticals in this country. The new amendment makes a mockery of the categorisation which had been introduced with the new drug policy. Some 15 drugs have been decontrolled, four drugs have been moved from Category I to Category II and all vitamin formulations other than Vitamin A and C have been removed from price control.
