CENTURY ENKA-Good Yarn

ACC Discarding Deadwood ASSOCIATED CEMENT COMPANIES (ACC) is cutting the deadwood and giving a major thrust to the implementation of optimisation schemes at various plants to improve profitability. It has already disposed of three of us loss-making plants, viz, Catalysts and Adsorbents (CATAD) manufacturing plant at Thane and cement plants at Dwarka and Sevalia. The company has also discontinued operation of special products plant at Porbandar on account of recurring losses. All permanent workmen employed at that plant have opted to retire under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme. Efforts are in hand for disposal of the assets at the plant. With the disposal of these plants, the company will be relieved of the considerable financial burden hitherto imposed on it by the heavy losses suffered by these plants year after year.
