Money Market- In for a Shake Up
expansion of production of goods and services to meet the pent up demand of the top five or ten per cent of the population (with the aid of easy imports of capita] goods, raw materials and components). But the Economic Survey assumes optimistically that this momentum will be maintained and will gain In strength. In fact, the 'market of 70 million' to which the government and private business and industry have so fervently hitched their wagon may not take ail that long to get saturated. The signs are said to be there already in such 'sunrise' industries as consumer electronics, two-wheelers and passenger cars, to mention but a few. In addition, of course, there is the deep malaise afflicting many sectors of industry, induced by the free flow of imports. Evidently the recently set up Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction has its work cut out for it.
