More recently Iran seems to have singled out Kuwait for attack and has been attacking ships that have been going to and coming from Kuwait, Both the Soviet Union and western nations are facing problems in the waterway. Hence it would have been logical for the US to con- suit Moscow. Instead, very predictably, Reagan has started sounding the familiar alarm about the danger of increasing Soviet influence in the Gulf.
