 increase in dividend from 12 per cent to 18 per cent. The proposed dividend is covered 2.37 times by earnings as against 2.47 times previously. At the annual general meeting, P K Sanyal, chairman, told shareholders that the company had submitted an application for broadbanding of its syntam industrial licence to 'leather auxiliaries (organic chemicals) except items reserved for small scale industry'. With the commencement of production and sale of basathrin (cyper- methrin), the company had entered the insecticides market, the largeset segment of the pesticides business. Commenting on the current year's prospects, Sanyal said that the turnover in the first three months had been in line with the annual plan whereas profits before tax had been higher.
