This raises a number of ticklish issues relating to policy inputs, infrastructuial facilities and management capabilities. The emergence of recessionary trends in a number of industries reflects mainly distortions in the growth process, resulting in uneven increase in effective demand. Despite the highly speculative nature of activity on the stock exchanges, the movements in equity price indices of different industry groups faithfully reflect the varying fortunes of these industries. If the government is earnest about restoring health and vitality to the new issues in market it should take appropriate steps to ensure stricter appraisal of projects and strengthen the institutional framework to encourage and support new entrepreneurs.
