The company has shown a gross profit of Rs 6.71 crore against Rs 9,12 crore in the previous year following decline in sales from Rs 184.22 crore to Rs 160.82 crore. These figures show reduced margins. With a lower provision for depreciation and a sizeable saving in taxation, however, net profit has been higher at Rs 161 lakh compared to Rs 44 lakh of 1983-84. The unchanged dividend of 15 per cent is covered 1.72 times by earnings; half of last year's distribution was short-earned. The company continued its export thrust and export value amounted to Rs 5.37 crore (Rs 3.55 crore).
