Disarmament US under Pressure

THE Soviet Union has once again extended its unilateral moratorium on nuclear testing. This is the third time that the self-imposed moratorium has been extended and this time it will last will Janurary 1, 1987. The US, predictably, seen the extension as a gimmick. It claims that the USSR has already con-ducted enough tests to pave the way for a new generation of nuclear weapons. There-fore, announcing a further extension, parti-cularly following the appeal for a test ban made by the summit meeting at Mexico of the six-nation initiative on peace and dis-armament, is the right gesture which the US is quite aware will have an impact around
