They are thus at the receiving end of both discrimination from the whites as well as disdain of the blacks. The differences between the two communities surfaced soon after the Hand- sworth riots, when the Asians resigned from the council in protest against the attitude of the West Indian members. If this is a trend this could lead to grave repercussions for both communities.
