January 12, 1985 Edible Oils Avoidable Imports BELATED and half-hearted, New Delhi's decision to reduce with effect from January the allocation of imported oils to the vanaspati industry from 95 per cent to 85 per cent is welcome. The cut is being effected by reducing the supply at the commercial rate of Rs 13,000 a tonne from 35 per cent to 25 per cent. Sixty per cent of the industry's oil requirements will continue to be met at the concessional rate of Rs 9,500 a tonne.
