This goes largely unquestioned and contributes directly to the increasing sense of insecurity among the minorities. The minorities are challenging the building of a Pan-Hindu culture and thus there is conflict with Christians in Kerala and Sikhs in Punjab. This in turn is helping to build the power of base of com- munalist leaders in different communities.
