Aluminium-Industry s Expectations Exceeded

THE price of electrolytic (EC) grade aulminium ingots, which is statutorily administered. was last raised by lis 2-469 per tonne in December 1981. With the prices of inputs having risen since then, a fresh hike in its price does seem just died. But it is debatable whether the price of the EC grade inclusive of excise duty ought to have been pushed up from Rs 18,805 to Rs 21,065 per tonne as was announced by the Union government this week.
