The Groundnut Extractions Export Development Association (GEEDA) has once again been entrusted with the monitoring of exports of groundnut extractions which were being canalised through the State Trading Corporation since January 1979. The export levy of Rs 125 a tonne had already been removed in February. Exports of decorticated cottonseed extractions continue to be routed through AICOSCA and cash assistance of five per cent of the fob value is no longer tied up with the fulfilment of a specified target. Export of castor oil to general currency area has been decanalised; only exports to the rupee payment area will be routed through the STC. The private trade will continue to be associated with the export of groundnut HPS which will, however, be handled mainly by NAFED.
