Now, barely months later, the Kranti Ranga candidate has done so badly in Kanakapura that he secured even fewer votes than the candidate of a non-existent Charam Singh Lok Dal (316 as against the Lok Dal candidate's 382 out of a total poll of 69,153 votes). The KKR candidate has done equally poorly in the other by-election in the Yel- burga constituency in Raichur district, polling 1,197 votes out of a total poll of 51,229 votes and once again losing his security ' deposit.
