ONE cannot but ho disturbed by the kind of economic projections that are being presented on the eve of the Budget (or what remains of it after all the price hikes already announced). The statistical exercises seem obsessed with presenting a very optimistic picture of the performance of the economy. There is no careful assessment of investments made and capacities established, only a highlighting of some marginal increases in productivity'.
