EI Salvador- Encouraging Repression

February 13, 1982 THE US administration has certified that the regime in EI Salvador is making "concerted efforts" to respect human rights, thus entitling the regime to receive US military and economic aid. Such certification is required by the new foreign aid law and has to be made to the Congress every six months. The latest US aid plans to EI Salvador call for an increase in economic aid by $ 87 million over and above, $ 26 million in military aid and $ 40 million in economic aid. They also envisage military training for the 1,500 troops from EI Salvador.
