February 13, 1982 GLOOMY export prospects, rising com- petition from synthetics, and the ensuing crisis for their respective domestic jute industries, seem to be instrumental in bringing India and Bangladesh closer for a common understanding to sell their jute goods abroad. Recent press reports have it that India and Bangladesh are likely to reach an agreement on the marketing strategy to be adopted to maintain juto goods exports and their shares in the international market.
