In common with most writers on the subject, the recommendation for optimal intake of fat per se quotes the high earlier ICMR figures, rather than their much smaller 1981 estimates which take cognisance of the considerable quantities of invisible fat, amounting to some 6 kg per head annually, which accrue to the individual from average Indian cereal-based diets in all parts of the country.
