Dynastic Ambitions vs Alternatives Romesh Thapar I THINK it will take the country a few weeks to grasp the disturbing and dangerous implications of the recent judgments of the Supreme Court. All over the land, there is bound to be deep anxiety when after prolonged hearings seven judges deliver six confusing judgments even on their own miserable situation of transfers et al. We are rapidly being brought to face the reality of the disarray that has taken hold of the judiciary itself at every level. The correction, alas, has to come from the political leadership, and hopefully cutting across party labels, but this leadership is also at sixes and sevens (pardon the pun). I hope we will think deeply, for the distractions are many and varied.
