Vol XVII No 23 THE election of the President next month promises to develop into another battle of wits between the opposition and the Congress (I) or, to be more precise, the Prime Minister, In the course of her electioneering against the CPI(M)-Ied Left Front in West Bengal in the recent assembly, elections there, Indira Gandhi had lashed out at the CPI(M) for trying to bring together all the opposition parties to get a President elected "who can oust me." Subsequently, however, she has been quieter about the alleged machinations of the opposition in regard to the presidential election.
