From Our Correspondents Gobar Gas Showpiece of Sadiqpura

THE community gobar gas plant, financed by UNICEF, was installed in Sadiqpura (not real name) in Etawah district two years ago. This was to be an experiment in decentralised village energy system. The initiation of research on bio-gas technology for the rural areas was undertaken by the Planning Research and Action Division of the UP Government as far back us in 1959, in a Pilot Development Pro-ject Area. The gobar gas plant at Sadiqpura is claimed to be the big-gest plant in the country.
