ruling LDF government's police has started attacking the peaceful demonstrations staged by the CPI (ML) and the People's Cultural Front in other parts of Kerala also. On August 25, at Can- nanore, 16 naxalites were arrested by the police for staging a demonstration agaiast the Black Laws of Central and state governments. It is surprising that CPI(M) government stops tin naxalites while it allows all other political parties to stage demonstrations for the same cause. More disturbing is the news report from Calicut that the police arrested a girl on the 'charge' that she had acted in a drama ('Nadugaddika') staged by the People's Cultural Front and sent her to borstal school.
