finds that the personal contact network and information flow through this network to be amazingly efficient. There is also much migration of females in the rural areas following marriage. However, Libbee finds that the network is somewhat stronger in South than in the North of India. Muslims are prone towards endogamy as are many South Indians. There are some intriguing implications in terms of the spread of innovations, in these personal networks and Libbee hints at them, although he does not explore them in any detail.
