Jammu and Kashmir-Changed Perception

WHILE the Centre's manoeuvrings in non-Congress(I) ruled states like West Bengal, Tripura or Kerala are transparent, less so are the corresponding activities in Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu. For instance, while the AIADMK administration in Tamil Nadu is still pursuing the case against Karuna- nidhi and some of his associates on charges of attempting to murder Indira Gandhi, the Centre itself has decided to wihdraw the cases arising out of established charges of corruption against Karunanidhi and some other DMK leaders. Jammu and Kashmir has in the last five months been visited twice by Indira Gandhi, in November last specifically in her capacity as the President of the Congress(I), and the state unit of the Congress (I) has been leading separatist agitations in Jammu and Ladakh as well as attempting to revive what is described as the 'old National Conference'
