GUJARAT-Sorrows of the Builders of Narmada

Sorrows of the Builders of Narmada "WHAT is your sorrow? What is troubling you?" These questions were put to a group of 70 labourers who were marching along as though they were in a funeral procession. At first they were scared to reply to the questions. After some reassurance they replied that they were working at the Karjan Dam since the last three months and had not been paid their daily wages. "We don't even get enough money to buy our daily rations. If we stay on here we are sure to die far away from our homes. It is better for us to go back home to die in peace." They were from Godhra side of Panch Mahal district, some 200 km away.
