Tobacco-Quality Constraints

PARTICIPANTS in the recent meeting of the Indian Tobacco Development Council were unanimous about the plight of the raw tobacco industry. Most of the Council's members in fact pointed to the attractions of switching over to other cash crops such as chilly and cotton. The present problems of the tobacco industry stem mainly from declining exports of leaf tobacco.
