Rs 200 per quintal for sugarcane (8.5 per cent recovery). But Naidu is not satisfied with these increases. The Tamil Nadu Agriculturists Association. claims that the cost of production of sugarcane works out to Rs 300 per quintal. Naidu asks why such bureaucratic bodies at the Agricultural Prices Commission should at all be fixing prices of agricultural produces. The only producer who has no right to fix the prices of his products, he complains, is the Indian farmer.
