Textile Policy- Conflicting Claims

economic ministries recently approved an increase of between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 a tonne in the basic price of aluminium ingots and wire-rods. This increase is ostensibly to compensate producers for escalation in input costs. The issue is expected to go before the Union cabinet soon for its formal approval, The Bureau of Industrial Costs and Prices (BICP) bad earlier recommended that the basic price of aluminium bo raised by about Rs 2,500 a tonne. Subsequently, on the basis of figures .submitted by the manufacturers, the Department of Mines worked out an additional compensation of Rs 500 per tonne on account of the rise in prices of petroleum products
