UNITED STATES Ethnic Minorities and 1980 Census Indu Vohra-Sahu THE 1980 census in the United States, which begins on April 1, will mark the twentieth time in this nations history that Americans have counted themselves. The census will count approximately 222 million people comprising all residents of the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Trust territories of the Pacific Islands.
