The Communal Savagery

The Communal Savagery Romesh Thapar THERE can be no running away from the savagery that now characterises what we continue to describe as a communal riot or fracas. Long ago, it was Ahmedabad which shocked us. Then, recently, Aligarh. And, now, Jamshedpur. I would suggest that the three collisions need to be studied in co-ordination. Only then will be able to get out of the cliche of describing this or that procession and this or that stone-throwing as the cause of the unthinking slaughter and brutality.
