BIHAR The Pupri Killings Hamendra Narayan PUPRI is a village in Defence Minister Jagjivan Ram's constituency, Sasaram. Two scheduled caste landless workers were killed at Pupri on the last Monday of August by the rich fanners of the village. Yet, Jagjivan Ram, who had time to visit the Chopras and express his grief over the tragic murder of their children, who also had to fly to Kanpur to address a 'special' convention of the Uttar Pradesh branch of Bharatiya Dalit Varg and call upon the "oppressed masses to unite and rise to fight against the existing social and economic inequalities. Time has now come for the depressed classes to wage an incessant struggle to achieve their basic rights" found no time when two members of those very masses from his own area were killed by their social oppressors. In fact, Jagjivan Ram has never visited his constituency since before the elections.
