Another point which impresses any visitor to Kenya is that no one is sorry over the demise of the East African Community last year. In a remarkably short time the country has become self-reliant in its infrastructure, with its own railways, airline and shipping service. Kenyans now say that they would have done better if the Community had died earlier. It was a burden and not an asset to Kenya, they argue.
