The reasons for the growing disappointment with the Janata party are not far to seek, The party's claim that it has restored democracy is not quite credible, because it is the Indian people who had done so when they refected the Emergency rule and inflicted a massive defeat on the Congress party, That on the social and economic front the Janata record has been rather dismal is now admitted by almost all the leaders of the party who confess that at the end of one year the lata has few positive results to show.
