Review of Management
THE Central government has, according to one newspaper report, decided to double the maximum limit on expenditure permitted to be incurred by candi-dates on elections to the Lok Sabha and the state Assemblies. At present, a candidate to the Lok Sabha from one of the states is allowed to spend upto Rs 35,000, whereas the limit for one from a Union Territory varies from Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,500. For elections to the state Assemblies, the present limit ranges between Rs 2,500 and Rs 13,500. Presumably, all these limits are now to be doubled so that, for instance, a Lok Sabha candidate from one of the states would be allowed to spend Rs 70,000.
