also the weakest link in the chain. The reason for this was obviously the type of education he received which prepared him not for the poor Indian but the affluent West. His value systems were so altered that emotionally and culturally he belonged to the urban areas. Medical colleges were invariably located in big cities and not where the Indian masses lived. A medical student, not surprisingly, was completely ignorant of the real problems of the people. His education prepared him for sophisticated diagnosis of exotic but incurable diseases, and intensive care with the help of up-to-date laboratory tests.
