Aspects of Development The Social Sciences and the Problems of Development edited by Khodadad Farmanfarmaian; Princeton University Programme of Near Eastern Studies, 1976; pp xv + 232; $ 4.06, IN June 1974, about seventy social scientists met at Persepolis, Iran to discuss the relationship between the social sciences and developmental problems. The Conference was sponsored and organised by the Plan and Budget Organisation of the Government of Iran, the School of Social Sciences, Teheran and the Princeton University Programme of Near Eastern Studies, Of the forty papers presented at Persepolis, eighteen are compiled and published together in this volume. The readings are divided into two parts. The first deals with 'General Aspects of Development' and the second deals with the particular problems of development in Iran.
