NEOMER, a new company promoted by Alembic Chemical and Alembic Glass, is establishing a plant for pro-duction of polypropylene fibre with a licensed capacity of 6,000 tonnes per annum. This fibre, which was com-mercially produced for the first time in Italy in 1957, is at present not produced in India. It has a number of outstanding properties, such as low density, high tensile strength, superior abrasion resistance, low moisture ab-sorption, and resistance to a wide range of chemicals.
