The leaders of the movement took the stand that any such struggles should be taken up by the people as a whole and not by any particular community. Thus, in 1973, the Shivaji Samaj was for all practical purposes replaced by another organisation, Jharkhand Morcha, under the leadership of Benod Behari Mahato and tvvo young men, Shibti Soren and Sadanand Jha. Shibu Soren is the son of a poor Adivasi peasant who had been killed by moneylenders. Like many other leaders in the region, he had been an activist in the CPI(M) and had been expelled for 'extremist' views. Today, he is the most 'wanted' leader in the region
