December 27, 1975 around Rs 80-85 crores. All this resulted in the setting of norms for ONGC which made for inefficiency and bred demoralisation. In these circumstances, the so-called world oil crisis came as a severe jolt to the country. It also pushed the government and the ONGC leadership to step up oil exploration and production efforts. The results of this are already visible.
