At the time Seato was formed some member countries could not resist these and other similar facets. Now they feel they can, and without losing whatever advantage they see in a special security equation with USA. But far from hiding these advantages or his desire for them, President Marcos has clearly said in another statement that he does not desire US withdrawal from Southeast Asia because that would upset the big power balance in the region.
