Portugal- Post-Election Bickering

THE brutal methods that were used in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh against so-called Naxalites in 1970-72 are now being applied in Bihar. What is more, the government does not seem to care to hide this fact. The State Transport Minister, S P Varma, told a meeting of Congress party workers, "We are determined to stamp out Na- xalism in Bihar". The Minister's statement is significant, coming as it did immediately after the police had organised the biggest ever killing of Naxalites in Bihar in the Ghorahuwan village in Masaurhi block of Patna district on June 3.
