Scheduled Castes-No Social Way to Justice

Our Maharashtra Correspondent writes: SONAGE is a village in Kagal taluka in Kolhapur district. Situated on the state highway between Nipani and Radhanagari, it is just 30 miles from Kolhapur city. Sonage has a population of over 2,000, of whom 300 are scheduled caste Mahar convents to Buddhism. Till early July the caste Hindus and the scheduled castes of Sonage had not clashed openly. In fact, officials could boast that a scheduled caste youth, Sitaram Kamble, who is a post-graduate student, was chairman of the village milk society. Sitaram Kamh. le and Prakash Kamble, another graduate, are acknowledged leaders of Sonage's neo-Buddhist community. As always, the neo-Buddhists live in the 'Buddhawada'
