United Western Bank

UNITED WESTERN BANK opened 11 new branches last year and has now a network of 72 branches spread over the whole of Maharashtra. Its total deposits increased by Rs 6.35 crores to Bs 28.29 crores and advances by Rs 4.06 crores to Rs 17.31 crores. In line with the general trend, the bank had surplus funds in the first half of the year but experienced inadequacy of funds in the second half as a result of the credit squeeze imposed by RBI During 1973, the bank earned a mar-ginally higher profit of Rs 4 lakhs, of which Rs 2 lakhs were transferred to the statutory reserve fund.
