Expansion Awaits Incentives

Expansion Awaits 'Incentives' Hansavivek ASSOCIATED CEMENT COMPANIES applications fur expansion of its works at Bhupendra and Wadi by 2 lakh tonnes and 3,3 lakh tonnes per annum respectively and for establishment of a new cement factory at Pali in Rajasthan with an annual capacity of 6.6 lakh tonnes have been sanctioned. Government approval under the MRTP Act has also been received, but the directors point out that successful implementation of these schemes will depend on the grant of "reasonable incentives'' and the fixation of a retention price of cement which will ensure economic viability. They add that in addition the company will have to rely heavily on funds from the public financial institutions to meet the higher capital costs. Along with these expansion schemes, the company will concentrate on rehabilitation and modernisation of its factories. By carrying out technical improvements and installing balancing equipment, production at the Bhupendra and Wadi works is proposed to be increased. Also, additional production is planned at JanmI by utilising two lakh tonnes more of granulated slag from the Bhilai steel plant.
